About us

vanGoy is an Indiepop band located in Munich, Germany. Singer and songwriter Alexander Goy started the project in 2011 after the sudden and surprising death of his husband Markus. Today the band is a trio: Alexander Goy on vocals and guitar, Basti Krämer on drums and Dirk Schöttle on synths. Pounding basslines and playful beats frame the unique melody and create the very special vanGoy style – a synthetic-analogue sound with refreshingly surprising elements.

After a phase of melancholic songs with influences of folk – ep “A” – vanGoy developed a more experimental musical style, which the ep „Y“ made audible. The album “Sounds Like Drama” pushed that direction further, and today the music has arrived at pop – catchy, danceable, without losing the band's own handwriting. The band loves performance art, the big costume and trespassing musical boundaries – looking forward to working on new music and performing their program on upcoming shows and festivals!
